Organization of Material
The spiral notebook will be used for our interactive notebook which will contain various assignments, sponges, vocabulary
enrichment, "featured scientists", etc. It is a great and yet essential tool in science to keep them organized and can be used as a reflective tool as they refer back to previous topics. - Daily Work:
Students
are expected to turn in all assignments on time. However, sometimes life does get in the
way. Late work must be turned in to the teacher with a handwritten
letter based on the class template. Work
will not be accepted more than one week late.
If the student is absent from class, it is his/her responsibility to
obtain any missed assignments. Students have one day for each day they were
absent to make up all assignments issued during their absence. Any assignments
given before an absence are due on the original due date. Extra credit is offered occasionally throughout the year and may be
obtained for going above and beyond on a given assignment.
- Notebook and Textbook
It is mandatory to keep all
assignments and notes in a notebook, and bring the notebook to class on a daily
basis. Every assignment should be
labeled with their name, student #, date, class period, and the name
of the assignment.
Textbooks will NOT be issued to students. We will be using a class set of books. There will be more information coming home later regarding textbooks at home. If you would like to access the textbook on-line, the website is www.glencoe.com/ose The access code is: E7AF46FDA8
Projects: All 6th grade students are required to complete a science fair project as part of the county curriculum. Also there are four mandatory (one per nine week) projects. Other projects will be assigned per standard or unit as a vital part of the learning process.
